two hours had passed. Freya was doing an errand, when two cloaked figures passed her and went towards the gate. Freya saw that a lone black strand was loosely lying on shoulder that belonged to person on the left.
The pair exited the gate. Freya crept to see what they were talking about.
"...your freedom. Use it wisely, Morgana."
"I will. Thank you."
With that, Morgana rode off.
Freya returned to city, frowning
What was going on?

I know the secrets of the land and the sky, And you'll hear my voice in the eagle's cry. As he worked, Merlin looked out the window and saw two cloaked figures leaving. He knew it was Morgana and Gilli and he was glad that they wouldn't be killed. People with magic didn't deserve to die, although Morgana had tried to kill the king. However, Merlin felt like it was his fault. If he hadn't of gotten Morgana to the druids, prehaps things would turn out differently. Or if he had managed to tell her more about magic and made her feel more accepted, not as if she was alone.
Just then, the young warlock saw another figure, listening in. Moving silently, he followed and caught up with Freya as she was returning. "Are you okay, Freya?" he asked her softly. He hoped that she was alright.

"I'm okay. And so are they" Freya assured him.
Just then, Gilli entered, and slumped into a chair.
"Preparations are going according to plan. I want you to be there when Morgana burns. For old times sake."
"Are you sure it's Morgana who will burn? Or will it be a wooden doll carved in her image?" asked Freya, raising an eyebrow.
Gilli stared at her, then began laughing.
"Don't think I don't know what your 'preparations' were" Freya said, smiling.

I know the secrets of the land and the sky, And you'll hear my voice in the eagle's cry. Giving a nodd at Freya's words, Merlin smiled at her. "I'm glad. This kingdom could do with a little less death and hatred." he smiled. "Gaius and Arthur would be shocked by my words. They don't think I'm capable of deep thinking, especially Arthur." he smiled.
As Gilli entered, Merlin gave the sorcerer a nodd. He looked a bit tired. "I usually don't attend exicutions, even if no one is going to die." smiled the warlock as he looked at Gilli with a smile.

The next day, a letter arrived.
Freya read it aloud.
Hello,
I'm fine. My family are fine too.
With this goes a bouquet of flowers. Give them o my rescuer, with my best regards.
Yours sincerely,
M.
P.S: Don't let Uther execute you three.
Merlin, Freya and Gilli looked at each other knowingly
"She wants you to have these" said Freya, handing the flowers to Gilli.

I know the secrets of the land and the sky, And you'll hear my voice in the eagle's cry. Merlin smiled as Freya read the letter out loud. Maybe there was some chance that Morgana would be accepted back into the castle some time soon. "Lets hope things get better." he smiled at Freya and Gilli. Ofcourse, there would always be a new threat, but that was the way things aways went.

Time passed. Every day, Uther would find some sorcerers to execute. And then, something happened. Sir William returned. His gaze fell upon Gwen. When Merlin and Freya warned Arthur about his love being stolen, he just shrugged.
"Sometimes one person has two personalities" he said, winking.
Freya and Merlin immediately understood what he meant.
So, they retreated to their room.
Tomorrow would be an exciting day. They both knew that.

I know the secrets of the land and the sky, And you'll hear my voice in the eagle's cry. Sighing, Merlin wished that there could be peace in Camelot. Couldn't it stay peaceful and free of exicution just for a lunar cycle? Was that too much to ask? In fact, Merlin was starting to feel like he was coming down with a cold. Which wasn't too good, becuase most of the remedies tasted foul.

The next day, Freya and Gilli burst into the room, followed by a bunch of children
"We couldn't let him execute children. We hope for them to join Morgana. Could we manage that?"
Freya and Gilli seemed thoughtful.
Then there was a knock. Freya quickly pushed them into Merlin's room, closed the door and leaned against it.
Merlin and Gilli lay on the bed, pretending to be asleep.
And then, Arthur entered. He casually observed Freya.
"Mordred sends his regards" Freya blurted out, voice dripping with sarcasm "He wants to thank you, Arthur Pendragon, for smuggling him out. In truth, he hopes you'd do the same as you did back then."
Arthur knew what she was getting at. The children prepared for execution were the same age as Mordred.
Mordred obviously wanted him to save them as well.

I know the secrets of the land and the sky, And you'll hear my voice in the eagle's cry. So many things where happening with Morgana gone. But this appeared to be the worst. A whole load of children who were going to be killed. As Freya smuggled the children in, Merlin wondered what Gaius would say. Just smuggiling one person and hidding them somewhere could get Gaius annoyed. But only becuase he knew that Merlin was risking his own life.
Just then Arthur burst in, and merlin wondered if there were going to be three more to be killed. Then Freya blurted out Modred's name and merlin wondered how she knew about the young druid boy who Arthur had helped to smuggle out. Merlins' expression was still one of shck and supprise, but he quickly hide it.

When Arthur was gone, Freya turned to Merlin and Gilli, smiling
"I read your mind" Freya clarified.
And it was true.
Just then, Gaius entered. He looked over at three sorcerers. He then told them that few people had fallen sick, Gwen included
Two days later, Freya got the same sickness.

I know the secrets of the land and the sky, And you'll hear my voice in the eagle's cry. When Gaius came in, Merlin hoped his mentor and friend would not question to why he had all these sorcerers in his room. If Uther knew it would be his worst nightmare. But instead, Gaius told them that a few people had fallen ill, Gwen included. Merlin cared about his friend and he questioned Gaius on what was wrong.
Things got harder, as Merlin also had to help Gaius out with this and he still had to serve Arthur. And things got worse, becuase Freya soon became ill. On hearing the news, Merlin rushed to check on her. "Freya, how are you feeling?" Merlin asked her.

"I'm fine. In fact, I'm the one who caused this. Don't be angry. It will keep them busy till we escort the children out. After that's done, I will heal the illness." she promised "You and Gilli are ill as well. In our state, no one will suspect us. Arthur promised he'll help us as well.
She coughed slightly.
"I'm not the enemy. Don't worry."

I know the secrets of the land and the sky, And you'll hear my voice in the eagle's cry. Hearing Freya's words, Merlin gave a smile. "Is that why I've been feeling like I have a cold? It would annoy Arthur if he got it from me. But it would also annoy him if I took time off." Merlin said cherfully, not really caring that he now had an illness created by the one woman he loved.
"Don't worry, I know your not the enemy." Merlin smiled, giving Freya a quick kiss on the forehead. "Do you need me to get you any food?" he asked. Even if he was ill, it wasn't too bad and Freya needed more attention than himself.

"I guess I do. But I only need strawberries." Freya gave a nod. "So, how do we get the children out?" she asked, earnestly.
She sighed. It will not be easy. But if Gilli alone managed to smuggle Morgana out, she was sure that three of them will manage it. Especially if whole court was busy treating the illness. She smiled slightly. Once the children were safely out, she would stop the illness.
