Name: Gaius Holocaust or just plain Gaius.
Age: 60 (about)
Gender: Male
Alliance: Good.
Sexual Orientation: Probably ace.
Group: Commoner, though he used to do magic.
Face Claim: Richard Wilson.

Likes: Punctuality, truth, being clever, joking about with Merlin at times, making potions.
Dislikes: Bad timing, rudeness, being stupid, evil and the banning of magic in general.
Good/Bad Habits:
Good: Often helping Merlin, saving people on numerous occasions with herbs and remedies.
Bad: Very often hides what he really thinks in front of Uther, telling Merlin what to do.
Personality:
Gaius is often scolding Merlin for all that he does wrong. He is always expecting the best of people at times and sometimes annoys Merlin to the extreme. Gaius is at times hiding his thoughts a lot from Uther, so he doesn't get executed.
However, he can be a lot of fun in his old age, and is sometimes joking about with Merlin or making little tricks on him like if Merlin was to not eat, then he would take his plate and look like he was going to eat it, then Merlin would snatch it back and they would laugh.
Overall, Gaius is a funny, wise and sometimes scolding too much physician.

Family: Gaius's family is pretty much unknown, it is possible that he had/has sons but no one really knows. He has one sister, Moonshadow, but she is in hiding and even Gaius doesn't know this (if someone wants to make a character for her, feel free!). Otherwise than that, Gaius hasn't said anything.
History:
Gaius used to be a magician in the olden days, but then he lost his powers and is now the court physician. He came to Camelot and offered his services to king Uther.
In his younger days, he could do all sorts of magic and when magic was not banned, he says that life was better. Now he wants magic back again, along with Merlin, but he'll probably die before it happens.
Other than he used to be a magician with strong powers, not much is known about his parents or how they lived. He's never really said anything about this either. Or perhaps he never wanted to...

Gaius was not usually the type to recall things that were done and dusted, but he could not help but think of when magic was allowed and when he was free to do magic at his own will.
That was before the disaster though, before the dragon, before the rage...before Merlin. It was all before, and he had to put his past behind him.
But he didn't know what to think now. Whether it was a good thing to have magic run free but with dark magic able to seep through or no magic at all.
He sighed and turned back to his herb remedy, the remedy for tiredness. Morgana had become tired of late, and he was sent to cure her.
He walked up the stairs to her chamber, and Uther was sitting beside her, on a nice, bouncy bed. Like clouds. Bouncy clouds.
It was soft to the touch, and as Morgana looked at Gaius, it was almost like that softness bounded back into her eyes. But that was her trick, her snare. Like a demon.
"My lady," Gaius said, "What is it that ails you?"
"Oh I feel oh so terribly sick and tired, Gaius, please help me."
Gaius nodded, and gave her the remedy, but in his mind he knew how many times that had been said, how many times she had lied.
A demon in a nightgown, thought Gaius, and he couldn't help but smile to himself for the thought of such a thing.
